Director of National Intelligence justified Alomirkh , James Clapper, to spy on foreign leaders as a " fundamental principle " in intelligence operations , while head of the National Security Agency , Keith Alexander, the European press charges " completely false ."

During a hearing before the Intelligence Committee in the U.S. House of Representatives after the disclosure of the Washington spy operations coverage, Clapper said the intelligence agencies belonging to the allied countries are spying on the leaders of the United States and its intelligence services .

For his part , the director revealed the National Security Agency accused monitor millions of phone calls and e-mails, that the information obtained by the agency is the fruit of cooperation with European intelligence agencies and NATO.

Alexander said at the same meeting that the foreign devices provide the agency with this information , describing the European press reports about American espionage activities " wrong " .

The Intelligence Committee was held in the House of Representatives headed by MP , Mike Roger , a hearing to discuss the U.S. eavesdropping programs in light of concern from violating the privacy of users and means of communication within and outside the United States .

He defended Director of National Intelligence and the National Security Agency about these programs for its role in the prevention of terrorist attacks in Europe, as well as to protect American citizens from possible attacks .

Clapper stressed and Alexander that the " intelligence community " America's going to strike a balance between security requirements and concerns of invasion of privacy , and stressed that the goal of eavesdropping on calls or e - mails intelligence gathering purely and is subject to the regulations and laws .
